The Beach? The closest beach is a fifteen to 18-minute walk (OK, we like to walk fast so you decide!), five orso minutes by bike, but no shorter if you decide to drive because parking is challenging everywherein Playa. The sand on all of the beaches is white and is able to reflect the sun’s heat so that thesand rarely feels hot. The Caribbean is generally in the low 80’s. Want something remote? Drive tothe Tulum area and you can spend a beach day with very few tourists around you. Snorkeling and scuba too!Restaurants? You thought 5th Avenue belonged to New York City? Think again! Playa del Carmen has developed awalking street — Avenida Quinta — that goes from the gates of Playacar to the extreme north end oftown. There are so many restaurants that it’s best for you to check out what other guests have foundand how they have evaluated each. We keep the book in the condo. Since Playa attracts a lot ofEuropeans, expect to find French and Italian restaurants and there is now a new crop of authenticArgentine restaurants that feature great wines. Most restaurants open early for people with kids andall stay open late for those who prefer a more continental experience. Some bars are reported to justget going at midnight but we can’t confirm that!Spanish?Virtually everyone speaks English and loves to do so. French and Italian can be heard along withGerman and Canadian English. Want to practice your rusty Spanish? They’ll love it! Want to improve your Spanish? Trymorning or all day classes at Solexico where you will find some of the best Spanish languageinstruction in Mexico and at very reasonable prices. Ten minutes by car or bike.Dates Booked:
